Linda Marie Horwath, age 75, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026. She was born on October 4, 1950 to Charles Anthony and Angelina Marie (Bompiede) Denoto in Cleveland, OH. She married the love of her life, Russell “Rusty” Horw Read Obituary
Linda and I were close in age and as cousins, close playmates. She was pretty and smart, and I wanted to be just like her. When we were very young, she always wanted to play “house” or “school”, which foreshadowed her desire to be both an excellent teacher and a great homemaker. She also had a mature sense of fairness. Because I didn’t want to play either of those games, we’d take turns as to who got to pick the activity. As we entered our teens, she grew even more graceful and lovely. But she never let it go to her head. When you’re past middle age, looks may fade, but Linda’s graciousness never wavered.
There are so many fond memories of travelling with Linda through Spain. We dealt with a few “crazy” kids that had they stayed home would have resulted in fewer stories to tell lol), an enormous bug in our hotel room, getting separated from the group and SO MUCH laughter! On a daily basis I would hang out in her room to grade and more importantly chat. The wonderful advice that she gave often made my life easier. She was know for her kindness, enthusiasm, love of life and her dedication. Her warm smile, caring personality, sunny attitude, perfectly coiffed hair and fashionable taste in clothes made her a student favorite. One group of Seniors loved her so much that they stole “Emilio” from her room and sent her funny ransoms notes and pictures. Emilio was finally returned and then when she retired, he has continued to live on in my classroom. I am going to miss my dear friend and think of her often! She was a truly lovely friend!
