John C. Durkin's Obituary
John C. Durkin age 88, passed away December 23, 2022. Beloved husband of 60 years to Peggy Durkin (nee Murtagh). Loving father of Sean, Patrick (Jennifer) and Mary Kay (John) Deal. Brother of Mary Margaret Cummiskey. Cherished grandfather of Jack, Catherine, Meghan, Maggie, and Bella. Jack had many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Jack was born and raised in Ambridge PA as part of a close-knit Irish family. This instilled in him a very strong love of all things Irish which was passed on to future generations through yearly family reunions. He was a proud Navy veteran (Radioman) and John Carroll University alumnus and Glee Club member. Jack built a career as a Human Resource professional working at several large corporations in the Cleveland area, ultimately retiring from Stouffer’s/Nestle in Solon. He also was an eager volunteer for company charity work and professional organizations related to his employment. Jack spent many glorious days at the family summer place at Pymatuning Lake and signed-on for several sailing adventures in the Caribbean. All with a smile on his face, a song in his heart and on his lips, and love and support for all he cherished. Jack’s family would like to thank the professional doctors, nurses and staff at Arden Court of Parma for their exceptional and dedicated care of Jack and the family.
Visitation will be held at Jardine Funeral Home 15822 Pearl Road, Strongsville, OH 44136, Thursday December 29, 2022, from 3-7PM. A funeral mass will be held at St. Colette Catholic Church, 330 West 130th St. Brunswick, OH 44212, Friday December 30, 2022, at 9:30AM. Interment will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later date.
