Joanne Marie Hempel-Lubomski's Obituary
Dr. Joanne Marie Hempel-Lubomski, age 81, of Columbia Station, passed away Friday, July 19, 2019.
Joanne Hempel-Lubomski was born on November 6, 1937, in Shaker Heights, OH to Fred and Marie (Koestel) Hempel. She was raised in Cleveland and graduated from Shaker Heights High School in 1955. Joanne married Joseph Lubomski in 1970. She earned her medical degree from Case Western Reserve Medical School, in 1974. Following her residency training in pediatrics at Case Western Medical Center before beginning her practice in Cleveland. She remained on faculty at Case Western Reserve as a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics.
Dr. Hempel was known to her colleagues, residents, nurses, and patients as a compassionate and caring physician.
She is survived by her brother Robert Hempel and his wife Dorothy Hempel Manchester, MO, her nephew, Christopher Hempel and his wife Kara Warden of Edmonds, WA, her niece Kimberly Deane and husband Thomas Deane of Simpsonville, SC and four great nephews, Dathan, Drayden, Daxton and Dresden Deane. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Friday July 26th with the family present at Jardine Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Saturday July 27th at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Columbia Station. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to the Playhouse Square, Attn: Development Dept., 1501 Euclid Ave, Suite 200, Cleveland OH 44115.
