Fred R. Plecha's Obituary
Fred R. Plecha M.D., 80, passed away August 12, 2016. Beloved husband of 59 years to Marion. Loving father of Christine (Francis Florez), Fred (Donna), Laurie (Doug Ewing), and John (Sheila). Dear grandfather of Alex, Katie, Erin, Ryan, Michael, Joe, Matthew, and Calvin. Preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Stella Plecha; and brothers Stanley, Ziggy, Ed, Adolph, and Albert. Fred graduated from The Ohio State University and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He did his surgical training in the United States Air Force and served in the military for eleven years, including one year of overseas service as a flight surgeon during the Vietnam War. He retired from the Air Force as a Lt. Colonel. Fred then began a career as a vascular surgeon in Cleveland, Ohio. He worked at Cleveland Metro Hospital, Lutheran Medical Center, and finally at Southwest General Hospital. He was an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the CWRU School of Medicine. VISITATION SATURDAY 11AM-12PM with a 12PM Memorial Mass to follow at St. Joseph Church, Strongsville. Interment private.
