Cheryl, we were friends when you lived on Astor Avenue. We walked to Tom L. Johnson school together. I often wondered where your family moved to. Just wanted to say hello and extend my sympathy to you. I was always proud to say that I knew a professional hockey player when I was growing up 😊

As a young boy I grew up watching Bill play for the Cleveland Barons down at the old Cleveland Arena on Euclid Avenue. Those memories are ones that I have always cherished. So many of those Barons made Cleveland their home after they retired from hockey. As I grew older and attended hockey schools that Bill ran, I learned how much he cared about hockey in Cleveland. When I grew into adulthood and started coaching High School Hockey I learned the most important quality Bill had. He was one of the sincerest individuals that you would ever want to meet. He was humble, kind, and told some of the best hockey stories that I've ever heard. Those who really know Cleveland hockey know that we have lost a good one. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all of us who knew and respected him.

Remembering all those summers I spent with Sue, Bill & Cheryl at the cottage on Round Lake. It was where my love of golf began. My fondest memory of Bill was when he got a hole in one on the 2nd hole at the KL Golf Club and the smile on his face when he told Susie, the real golfer in the family who had never got one. She didn't believe him at first but he had the card and momento from the club to prove it. I also remember how proud we all were when we went down to Cleveland to watch him presented at centre ice and named as a Legend of Hockey. Bill was not only a great hockey player but a great husband, dad, uncle and brother-in-law. Cheryl, he loved you more than anything...even hockey. We are so sorry we aren't able to be with you at this difficult time but know that we are there in spirit and will be thinking of you...especially Wednesday. I've always loved these photos of all of you.
