William Robert Berger Jr.
A.k.a: Billy, Billy Bob, Wilbur, Buck Greenwood, Uncle Buck, Uncle Billy
27 Years Young residing in Columbus, Ohio
You left this life the way you wanted to...surrounded by family and friends enjoying life. Your 27 years on Earth were filled with passion and most of all LIFE.
He was a 2008 graduate of Columbia High School. He went on to Akron University to earn his Bachelors in Sports Science and Sports Management. Followed by an acceptance at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville to earn his Masters of Sport and Exercise Behavior. Billy decided to stay in Illinois to pursue his love of coaching soccer. He recently started a position as the Coordinator of Campus Reservations at Ohio Wesleyan University to bring him closer to home and to his nephew Brantley.
His life focused on:
Family - As the son of Bill Berger (Susie) and Darla Berger born in Columbia Station, Ohio. The brother of Danielle and Bridgette. Uncle to Brantley. True love to Denise. And cousin and friend to many. Loved by everyone he met.
Racing - As a crew member of his cousin's team he kept everyone entertained while working hard to create a winning team. Even when he couldn't attend a race he was known to call for constant updates.
Soccer - As a player at Columbia High School and later on coaching. He took his love of the sport into college as the team manager for the University of Akron and winning a National Championship in 2010. Then as the Director of soccer operations at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville he was a part of them making the NCAA tournament and being Conference Champions in 2014 and 2016.
Hunting – He recently gained a love for hunting and being outdoors. He took pride in hunting and bringing home dinner, with shooting his first Turkey this past spring.
His family asks that you celebrate his life and remember the Billy that was the life of the party.
VISITATION will be held Thursday from 4-8 PM at the JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, 15822 Pearl Road Strongsville, OH; where the FUNERAL SERVICE will be held Friday at 10 AM. Interment to follow the funeral service at Columbia Cemetery.
A celebration of life event will be held at Friday, June 2nd at 6pm at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles - 27190 Royalton Road Columbia Station.
