I remember Mr. Zverina very distinctly. I still remember him pounding the chalk board until chalk dust would fly out, shouting, "Boolean algebra! So beautiful!" I had him for 8th grade algebra. I still use algebra to this day....and it got me through graduate level Statistics.

He was a brilliant teacher and bigger-than-life personality ....and every guy I knew in high school that played sports said he was a marvelous coach, very caring.

A friend from high school reminded me that he gave extra credit on the first quiz if you could spell his name! - KIm Weber

Wally has been my "best friend" for 72 years. We spent many good times together growing up. I always looked forward to his calls and their annual visit to Arizona. We have spent the last 15 years together with Jan and Wally at Christmas. I will truly miss him, his jokes, his ribbing and his wonderful smile. He will always be in my heart. Many of our friends in Arizona became his and Jan's friends. Wally just had a way sharing his knowledge and ideas with everyone.

Now he can be the ambassador to the angels, may you rest in peace my dear friend and great Buddy.

Independence Middle School, September 1961, first day of seventh grade-Math class-who is this crazy teacher? He is smiling as though he has a secret of this subject to share. It might actually be fun this year. Mr. Zverina truly made his own subject fun, but he also encouraged us, his students to be life long learners. He was a "hero" to me personally. He inspired me to be the best teacher I could be, to take chances with new learning styles and always to know as much as possible about each student. He will be missed as our memories wander back to the days of those who were lucky enough to be in his classroom. Thanks to his family for sharing him with us all those years. Donna Naylor

Wally and Jan are our" Forever Friends". We have been neighbors and friends for 57 yrs.
He is Don's best buddy. They spent hours together every week discussing each others plans for the day or week. Money investments,TV shows, family matters, the kids.
He was always here to offer help, on EVERYTHING. He was especially concerned about His buddy Don,
When he became so ill, Wally came the hospital frequently to give Support & Love.That's the kinda guy he was. ,Always carring and concerned about his friends.
Mitch,Wally and,Bryan grew up with our three kids on Adams Dr.
We called Wally {The Mayor Of Adams Dr.} He talked with everyone,especially the young kids, His voice and smile was contagious

His death will change our lives too esp.Don's

I was so sorry to hear of Wally’s passing. I feel so blessed I was able to see him at the Harvest Festival! Strongsville will never be the same without his smile!
