Walter "Wally" Kosiba age 82, a man cherished by his family and respected by his community, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him dearly. Walter's life was a testament to his unwavering spirit and the joy he found in simple pleasures.
His zest for life and his love for his family were evident in every role he embraced. As a devoted husband, he spent 16 beautiful years with his wife, Janice, and held fond memories of his former marriage with Gloria. Walter was a loving father to Kim and Colleen, a supportive stepfather to Jen Sesock and Mike Stahlberg, and a doting grandfather to Lizzy, as well as step-grandfather to Lexi, Jax, and Riley. Walter was the beloved brother of Betty Ann Szucs Woehrman (Dan) and the caring uncle of Joe Szucs. Each family member felt the warmth of his love and the strength of his guidance.
Walter's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. U.S. Army Veteran and member of the American Legion Post 0091 in Berea. He worked at the Illuminating Company for 50 years as a lineman and a supervisor. An avid sports fan, he relished watching both professional and college games, immersing himself in the thrill of competition. His love for the outdoors was a constant throughout his life; each deer season found him hunting in the woods of Pennsylvania, a tradition he held dear. Fishing, bowling, and golfing were among his favorite pastimes, activities that not only brought him joy but also fostered lasting friendships.
A man with a green thumb, Walter loved gardening and working outdoors, taking pride in the beauty he cultivated around his home. His best four-legged friend, Holly, was often by his side, sharing in the tranquility of their outdoor sanctuary.
Walter's commitment to his community was reflected in his long-standing membership with the National Slovak Society (NSS).
ALL SERVICES TO HONOR AND CELEBRATE WALTER'S LIFE WILL BE HELD AT ST. JOHN NEUMANN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 16271 PEARL ROAD STRONGSVILLE. VISITATION WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 21ST, 2025 FROM 10 AM TO 12 NOON, WITH A FUNERAL MASS TO FOLLOW AT 12 NOON. He will be laid to rest at Strongsville Cemetery. Walter's life was a melody of love, laughter, and dedication, and his legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he touched. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
