Virginia Frances Bycznski's Obituary
Virginia Frances Bycznski (née Surman), age 95, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025. Born on May 29, 1929, in Olmsted Falls, Ohio, Virginia lived a long and fulfilling life surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert.
Virginia grew up in a close-knit household with her three brothers, Joseph (Janie) Surman, Michael (Mary) Surman, and Melvin (Corrine) Surman, as well as her sister, Arlene "Trixie" (Donald) Schmitt. Together they created many cherished memories that shaped her warm and caring nature.
As a devoted mother, Virginia took immense pride in raising her four children: Robin (Edward) Klatka, Robert Bycznski, Boni (Fiancée Tim Ardo) Swanek, and Steve (Vicki) Bycznski. Her legacy of love extended to her role as a grandmother to 13 grandchildren: Katie (Steven) Stransky, Kristin Klatka, Kimberly (Michael) Davenport, Edward J. (Anne) Klatka, Dr. Kelsey (Nick) Bayzath, Steven (Pauline) Bycznski, Amanda (Alex) Krawec, Alexis (Fiancée Joshua Gibson) Bycznski, Jared Bycznski, Ariel Guldstrand, Cody (Shay Noori) Guldstrand, Trevor Guldstrand, and Chelsea (Joshua) Kovacs. She was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren: Marie and Isabel Stransky; Barrett Davenport; Evelyn, Eddie, Joseph and Thomas Klatka; Riley, Hendrix and Ozzie Guldstrand; and Claire Bycznski who all brought joy to her heart.
A woman of deep faith and unwavering dedication to her community, Virginia was an active founding member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Columbia Station, Ohio. Over the years she served in numerous roles at the parish that reflected her generous spirit and commitment to helping others. As a member of the bereavement committee and Eucharistic Minister who brought communion to local nursing homes, she touched countless lives with her compassion and kindness.
Virginia’s talents were abundant and shared freely with those around her. She was renowned for her exceptional pie-baking skills, a gift she lovingly shared at family gatherings and community events alike. She loved teaching her grandchildren to make pierogies. Her green thumb produced bountiful gardens each year for canning projects that filled pantries with homemade delights. In quieter moments she found joy in sewing and crocheting afghans for loved ones, a tangible expression of the warmth she brought into their lives.
May Virginia’s memory bring comfort to all who knew her and inspire them to carry forward the values of love and service she so beautifully exemplified.
Visitation will be held from 3-7 P.M. at Jardine Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish at 25801 Royalton Rd., Columbia Station, Ohio on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery, Seville, Ohio immediately following the mass at 12:15 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Hospice of Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland OH 44110. Arrangements are entrusted to Jardine Funeral Home at 15822 Pearl Road in Strongsville.
