Uncle Dennis and Aunt Dolly
I am broken hearted for you all. Mindy you are an incredible mother who I know will be a rock for your children. Megan I wish I could be there with you sweet girl. You are a strong young woman and I know your dad is proud of you. Eric I never met your dad but I know you and Megan are two awesome kids that he did something wonderful in having you guys. I pray for peace for you all during this tragic time. Much, much love to you all. I'm with you in spirit. I'm so sorry for this terrible loss.
I will remember Tom from our adolescence, which for the both of us was a socially awkward time that neither of us seemed to figure out. But in that period we shared a very strong sense of adventure and an exploratory mindset that I have carried with me since. By coincidence our years growing up in Ohio have been uncannily depicted in the 2011 film "Super 8" (except for the aliens). I don't recall mentioning this to Tom, but I'm sure he would agree that Paramount Pictures owes us royalties! Tom and I parted ways when I left for the Army in 1987. At his request I loaned him my Elmo Super 8mm since I would not have time to mess with it anymore. I returned to visit him only once the following year. Over the last 27 years that friendship had gone dormant until we reconnected on social media in 2009. I lasted chatted with him just a few months ago and we reminisced about our exploits and our amateur film making. To my surprise he had recently pulled that old 8mm out of storage. I didn't asked him if he had made any films with it. It doesn't matter. What matters is the time we spent dreaming and planning those action shots with the fake blood, melted model cars, and BB-gun shoot outs. Those were good days. Rest peacefully, Tom.
Your friend,
MAJ Eric Morley
