Susan M. Fairchild's Obituary
Susan M. Fairchild (nee McManus), 68, passed away suddenly on January 8, 2024 while visiting her family in Cleveland, Ohio.
Sue’s warmth, graciousness and quick laugh made her everyone’s favorite relative, friend, hostess and guest. She was extraordinarily generous with her time and her spirit, and always willing to help. Sue loved travel, live music and most of all being Gram Grams to her grandsons Blake and Everett.
Sue is survived by her beloved daughter Lauren Griffiths (Rob). Sue is preceded in death by her parents William Jr. and Clare McManus. Dear sister of Jeffrey McManus (the late Debra), Martha O’Brien (the late John), and brothers David McManus and the late William “Bill” McManus III. Sue was the cherished “Gram Grams” to Blake and Everett Griffiths, Aunt of Michaela Chojnowski (Jim), Patrick O’Brien, Spencer O’Brien, Colin McManus and the late Kelly McManus.
Originally from Massachusetts, Sue remained in Ohio after her graduation from Dennison University. She built a successful career in financial services and retired from PNC Bank (fka National City) in 2013.
She relocated to Jupiter, Florida in 2008, where she loved the warm weather, challenging golf courses and a network of dear friends. Sue loved having company and generously shared her Florida life with friends near and far. Most importantly, she was dedicated to her family and treasured her grandkids (the Pookies!). She was truly one-of-a-kind, and her kind heart and optimism will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
SERVICES: A Memorial gathering will take place Friday, January 19, 2024 from 4-6 p.m. at Jardine Funeral Home, 15822 Pearl Rd., Strongsville, Ohio.
A Celebration of Life will take place in Florida at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Project NICU, an organization near and dear to Sue. Her grandson Blake was born prematurely and spent 49 days in the NICU. Her daughter Lauren serves as a Board Member of this meaningful non-profit organization.
