Stephen "Steve" Sako's Obituary
Stephen "Steve" Sako, aged 85, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024, in Strongsville, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 27, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Steve is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Roberta Sako, and their children, Richard Sako (Mary Ann) and Lorinda Sako. He was a proud grandfather to William, Kathryn, Rosemarie, Carolyn, and Matthew, and a doting great-grandfather to Thomas, Anne, Caleb, Colin, Ava, Callie, Emily, and Claire. The son of the late Steve and Pauline, he was also a caring brother to the late James Sako, Paulette Leota, Douglas Sako (Linda;surviving), and loving uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews. His extended family includes his sister-in-law, Gerri Kemner (Mark), who will miss him dearly.
Steve's life was marked by his dedication to his family and his career. After 40 years of committed service, he retired from General Motors, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and reliability. His colleagues knew him as a man who was always ready to lend a helping hand, and his family cherished him for his constant presence and support.
An avid outdoorsman, Steve found joy in the simplicity of nature. He loved boating and fishing, embracing the serenity of the water. His passion for the beach and ocean was evident to all who knew him; he was happiest with the sand between his toes and the sound of the waves in his ears.
Steve's love for late model cars was more than just a hobby; it was a reflection of his meticulous nature and his appreciation for craftsmanship. His hands were rarely still, as he was always tinkering, fixing, and improving everything around him. His energy was contagious, and his inability to sit still inspired those around him to engage with life just as fully.
As a family man, Steve's greatest joy came from the time he spent with his loved ones. He was a cornerstone of family gatherings, sharing stories and laughter, and creating memories that will be cherished for generations to come. His wisdom, humor, and kindness were gifts that he gave freely and that will continue to live on in the hearts of his family.
Steve's journey through life was one of purpose, love, and joy. His impact on the world was as profound as the steadiness of his character. He will be remembered as a loving husband, a caring father, a doting grandfather, and a great-grandfather, a supportive brother, and a loyal friend.
