Stephen Butler Abbey's Obituary
Stephen Butler Abbey, age 82, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA on November 20, 1943, Steve was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend, whose presence touched the lives of many.
Married 61 years to his wife Roberta, father to Mark and Sharron (Mike) and grandfather to Jaret and Andrew Gold. A proud 1965 alumni of Westminster College, Steve had a long career in sales from Maryland Cup and Globe Paper. He was an avid golfer, history buff and Cleveland sports fan. He spent many years as a member of the North East Ohio Civil War Roundtable.
Steve will be deeply missed and and will always be remembered as a man of kindness, dignity, decency, and one who loved family, his alma mater, smooth jazz music, a good ice cream cone and a round of golf. He had a beautiful swing and played the game - like life - with honor and as it lays. And when it’s all said and done, that’s a blessed life.
Steve’s family will greet friends on Sunday, July 26, 2026 from 12 - 2 PM at Jardine Funeral Home, 15822 Pearl Rd, Strongsville. A service to honor his memory will take place immediately following at 2 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bittersweet Farms at 12660 Archbold-Whitehouse Rd, Whitehouse, OH 43571.
