Shirlei Anne Frei Wasacz's Obituary
Shirlei Anne Frei Wasacz passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 3rd, 2026. She was 82 years old. She is survived by her husband, Robert, her daughter Catherine Collings (Charles), and her two grandchildren Sarah and Bobby. Shirlei was born in Cleveland, Ohio to George and Mary Frei. She grew up in Brecksville, and when she was 19 years old, she met her husband, Robert. They got married a year later. They were married for 62 years. When they first got married they lived with Robert’s parents, Walter and Iolene. In 1968 they had their daughter Cathy. When Cathy was several years old they moved to Brunswick. Shirlei enjoyed playing golf and gardening. In the 1980s, she and her husband moved to Strongsville, where they have lived for 40 years. One of Bob and Sherlei’s greatest passions was golf, and their vacations always centered around golf. Later they joined Columbia Hills Country Club, in which they have now been active members for almost 50 years. Shirlei was active in the Ladies Association, and used her skills to design for the holidays, gardens, and decorations. Shirlei was a member of the Cleveland Women's Golf Association for over 40 years, where she was president in 2015.
Shirlei loved gardening and design. Her love of design led her to open up a floral design studio for weddings and special events with her daughter. She had a passion for gardening and watching things change and grow, so much so that she became a Master Gardener. Shirlei was always designing something, whether it was gardens, floral arrangements, artwork, or simply decor. Shirlei was beloved by all her family and friends. She had a kind and gentle nature with a sense of humor that kept her laughing up until the end.
VISITATION will be held on THURSDAY, May 7th, from 3pm - 7pm at JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, 15822 Pearl Road, Strongsville, OH.
