Sarah Brooke Kocinski's Obituary
Sarah Brooke Kocinski (nee Fearing), 66, was born on April 23, 1958, and passed away April 9, 2025. She was the beloved wife for 35 years to John S. Kocinski and loving mother of Angela Kocinski-Martin (Brett) John S. Kocinski (fiancé Angela). Daughter of the late Franklin E. Fearing and Marian Fearing (nee Cox). Sarah was the dear sister of Christopher Fearing, cherished grandmother of Jamie, Paul, Anthony, Maya and Kinsley, and aunt of Kelsey and Kayla and great aunt to Benson.
Although Sarah was born in Ohio and graduated from Bay High School in 1976, Sarah’s first college degree was from Kent State in 1980 in graphic design. This led her to a career at Watt Printers in graphic design in printing and publishing. However, as gifted she was in this career, she knew she was meant to fulfill her love for helping others. During mid-life, she was drawn back into nursing which was a passion she had nurtured as a young high school girl working in retirement homes. Once she finished her LPN, she quit her publishing job and went back to work helping take care of the elderly.
She had deep ties to her extended families in Kansas. During her life, she explored her love of traveling by making multiple trips to Kansas. She loved visiting her aunts and uncles and cousins. As the years past, the extended family met often — 20-30 people at a time — in places like Orlando and Branson for great adventures with many meals of great food.
Besides her family and especially her husband John, Sarah was so excited when she and John were able to adopt the baby girl of their dreams. They made multiple trips to Honduras to meet that new baby and carefully packed little clothes and special treats to take to her while they waited “patiently” for all the legal work to be completed so they could bring the baby with the big smile and curly hair home. Over the years, Sarah and John, cheered Angela on as she pursued her passion for sports. She watched Her daughter take her passion for sports and turn it into a passion in becoming a role model. A passion for making a difference in the next generations youth. Then another dream was fulfilled — two baby granddaughters who Sarah and John babysat for before they were old enough for school. Two babygirls that saw a superhero inside their grandma. A grandma that got to witness her dreams come true right in front of her. And while it was short-lived, the moments that have been created for them will forever be remembered.
In 2014, Sarah received a diagnosis of cancer. She continued pursuing everything life still had to offer — trips, family time, quiet time, trips to Costco with her best friend, and walking. Putting those nursing skills to work, she took care of John when he had back surgery and, in spite of her own health care issues, she cared for her father prior to his death in November 2024. Sarah’s quiet ways and constant source of strength will be missed by the entire family.
