Ronald J. Stiglitz's Obituary
Ronald Joseph Stiglitz was born in Chicago Heights, Illinois, October 10, 1941 to Joseph and Helen Stiglitz. He attended Bloom High School and then graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1964 with a Bachelor’s in Metallurgical Engineering. He began a career as a metallurgical engineer at Republic Steel and continued as a tech rep supervisor for LTV Steel when they bought Republic in 1984. The job brought Ron and his family to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1974. He retired from Arcelor Mittal in 2009 after 45 years in the industry.
Ron and Georgeanne, his wife of 49 years (passed away in 2014), had three children and six grandchildren. One of Ron’s favorite places to take the family was the Cleveland Metroparks, especially Brandywine Falls. Yearly vacations to the National Parks were enjoyed by the family and provided many great memories. Two parks he loved the most were Mammoth Cave and Ohio Caverns. Additionally, Ron loved to read and golf, finding them relaxing diversions from the daily grind. After retirement, Ron and Georgeanne traveled to casinos and parks and spent lots of time with their grandchildren.
Of course he “distressed” over the fate of Cleveland Sports teams as a loyal fan of the Cavaliers, Browns, and Indians. However, just hours after his passing the Cavs came through and finally brought a championship home. Ron had a love of college basketball and football, as well, with Cleveland State and Ohio State among his favorite teams to follow.
Ron, age 74, entered into eternal rest on June 19, 2016. He is the loving father of Laura (Raymond) Vallee, Mike (Rebecca) and Mark; cherished grandfather of Elise, Rochelle and Julia, Patrick, Caitlin and Abigail; brother of Ted and Carolyn and friend to many. VISITATION will be held Wednesday from 4-8 PM at JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, 15822 Pearl Rd., Strongsville 44136. FUNERAL MASS will be Thursday at 10 AM at St. John Neumann Church, 16271 Pearl Rd., Strongsville 44136. Interment Holy Cross. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital www.stjude.org
