Roberta Woods' Obituary
Roberta Woods, 88, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2024, in Medina, Ohio. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Edward and Wanda Warren.
Roberta's early years in Cleveland laid a strong foundation for a life of learning and teaching. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University, she embarked on a rewarding 35-year career as a special education teacher with Independence City Schools. Her unwavering commitment to her students and their families left an indelible mark on countless lives, shaping futures with patience and kindness.
Roberta was the beloved wife of the late Donald N. Woods, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage filled with love. Together, they built a family legacy that includes their devoted daughter, Mary Borovicka (David), their son, Donald Woods, and their cherished grandchildren, Julie and Katherine Borovicka and Annelise and Carson Woods.
Roberta was a cherished sister to Ruth Cukras (the late Norman), Thomas Warren (Donna), and the late Donald.
Beyond her professional and family life, Roberta's interests were a reflection of her gentle spirit and love for simple pleasures. She was an avid reader who found solace and adventure within the pages of books. Her hands were rarely still, as she delighted in knitting, crocheting, and various crafts, creating beautiful pieces that served as expressions of her love and creativity.
Roberta also loved watching old movies. Her joy in these moments was only matched by her fondness for going out to eat, a time when she could indulge in her love of good food and even better company.
Her legacy continues through the lives she touched. Her gentle guidance as a teacher, her unwavering support as a wife and mother, and her kindhearted presence as a friend will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
VISITATION will be held THURSDAY, MAY 23, 2024 at 10AM with a Memorial Mass to follow at 10:30AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, Strongsville. Roberta’s interment will take place on FRIDAY, MAY 24, 2024 at 9:15AM at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Please meet at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
