Robert Alan Standen Sr.'s Obituary
Robert Alan Standen, Sr. of Strongsville, OH, age 68 died Oct 6, 2013 peacefully with family at his side, after a courageous battle against cancer. He is the cherished husband of Ginny (Stauder) for 47 years. He is the beloved father of Robert Jr. (Lori) of O’Fallon, MO and Brian (Kathy) of Medina, OH, dear devoted grandfather of Matthew, Lindsey, Laura, Emily and Kevin. He’s survived by his mother Kathryn Standen of Amherst OH. He is preceded in death by his father Robert, brothers –in- law, Jerry Underwood and Michael Russ, mother and father in-law, Lee and Richard Stauder. He is the dear brother of Susan Underwood of Amherst, OH, and David Standen (Dede) of Elyria, dear brother –in-law of Nancy Russ of Villa Park, IL, Richard Stauder (Diane) of Royalston MA. Bob grew up in Amherst OH and graduated from high school there. He went on to graduate from Kent State Univ. in 1968 with a business degree and in 1986 received an MBA from Kent State Univ. Bob worked 40 years in Human Resources, going on to specialize in labor relations at several companies in many locations. He worked for B.F. Goodrich in Akron, OH, Tuscaloosa, AL, and Ft. Wayne , IN.,and Wilson Sporting Goods in Chicago, IL, and American Greetings in Cleveland, OH where he became Vice President of Industrial Relations. He went on to work for Lear Corp. in Southfield MI and IACNA in MI until he retired in 2008. Bob also devoted time as a Trustee/Chairman of the Textile Workers Pension Fund from, 1990 -1999. Bob loved sports and loved to golf, and ski. He also loved reading and traveling and took many business trips worldwide, as well as trips with his family. Most of all, Bob especially enjoyed time and trips and activities with his family. Bob has stated many times that his proudest achievement in life was his 2 sons. He took such pride in the wonderful sons they are, and the wonderful husbands and fathers they became. Bob will be deeply missed. He was an inspiration of faith, courage and strength in his life and especially his battle with cancer. He credits all the prayers for him as the reason he survived this aggressive cancer as long as he did. VISITATION FRIDAY 4-8PM at JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, 15822 PEARL RD, STRONGSVILLE.
