Robert "Bob" Smykal's Obituary
Robert (Bob) Smykal, passed away on December 13, 2022 at the age of 96. He was predeceased by his wife, Beverly (nee McLaughlin) in 1992. Bob is survived by his son Rob (Anne) and daughter Kris (Bill) Mason. He was the proud grand-father of Allison, Emily, Steve, Jim, Mike and Mary and great grand-father of Teddy, Claire and Nori.
Bob was raised in Chicago and served in WWII in the Pacific. He moved to Northeast Ohio in 1952, where he met Bev and they married in 1954. They moved to Strongsville in 1958 where he became involved in the Strongsville Chamber of Commerce and other civic activities. Bob’s working career centered around the railroad industry and he was an innovative leader and contributor to the industry.
Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, Shriner and Jester. Most of all, he treasured family!
Bob will be laid to rest with Bev in Strongsville Cemetery. Services will be private, family only.
