Robert B. Skully's Obituary
Robert B. Skully passed away on June 24, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born on April 16, 1942 to Frank T. and Mary (nee Yanchar) Skully. Bob lived a life marked by kindness, faith, dedication, and a commitment to the people and communities around him.
Robert was the beloved husband of the late Donna (nee Znidarsic) and Katherine (nee Keane). Their lives together were built on love, companionship, and respect. He was a devoted father to Chris and his wife Susan, and to Rob and his wife Gaby. He is survived by his brother Gerald as their eldest sibling Frank, was called home by the Lord on June 10th 2026.
Bob took great pride in his family, and he cherished the time he spent with them. His presence was a source of comfort, encouragement, and strength, and he will be remembered for the quiet ways he showed his love and support throughout his life.
A teacher by profession at St Ignatius (his alma mater) and later the Strongsville School District, Bob devoted his career to helping others learn and grow. He approached his work with patience, integrity, and a genuine belief in the value of education. He understood that teaching was not only about lessons in the classroom, but also about shaping character, building confidence, and inspiring curiosity. Many who knew him through his work remember him as a thoughtful educator who cared deeply about the success and well-being of others.
Robert carried himself with humility and grace, and he earned the respect of those who knew him well. He had a calm and reassuring manner that made others feel at ease. Whether he was spending time with family, speaking with friends, or working with students and colleagues, he brought warmth and sincerity to every interaction. His life reflected a deep sense of responsibility and a quiet generosity of spirit.
He will be remembered for the values he lived by and the example he set for those around him. His family and friends will hold close the many memories of his kindness, his wisdom, and his steadfast presence. Though he is no longer with them, the love he gave and the lessons he shared will remain a lasting part of their lives.
A Memorial Mass for Robert will be held on Friday July 3rd, 2026 at 11am at St. Luke Catholic Church, 1212 Bunts Rd, Lakewood, OH 44107. Private family inurnment to be held at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made to either the American Cancer Society or St. Jude’s Hospital.
