Robert "Bob" Puchmajer's Obituary
Robert "Bob" Puchmajer, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on August 2, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, Bob lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a love for the simple pleasures in life.
Bob was the beloved husband of Gay Vaughan Puchmajer, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage after tying the knot on August 10, 1963. Their enduring partnership was a testament to love, mutual respect, and shared joy. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Jeff, and his wife Shannon Puchmajer, and Wendy Slimak. Bob was the proud patriarch of a family that included his cherished grandchildren Ashley Easter, Jeffrey Puchmajer Jr., Kailey Easter, Jacob and his wife Kaley Webb Puchmajer, Mackenzie Gagliardi, Miah Puchmajer, and Brody Puchmajer, as well as his adored great-grandchildren Jacob Jr., Emma, Maci, and Lexi. Preceded in death by his siblings, Gary Puchmajer and Sue Spiewacki.
Bob was a proud alumnus of Baldwin Wallace University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. His education laid the foundation for a life of professional achievement and civic involvement. A veteran of the United States Navy, Bob served his country with honor during the Cuban Missile Crisis. His commitment to service extended into his civilian life as a member of the Strongsville VFW Post #3345, where he was also a part of their Honor Guard, paying tribute to his fellow servicemen and women.
An avid outdoorsman, Bob found solace and joy in fishing and boating, often found at the Forrest City Yacht Club where he was a member. His love for the water was only matched by his passion for watching his grandchildren play sports. He was their most dedicated fan, rarely missing a game, and always offering his unwavering support from the sidelines.
Bob's green thumb was evident in his beautiful garden, a hobby that brought him immense pleasure and a sense of connection to the earth. He was also known for his impressive collection of various treasures, each with its own story and place in his heart. A lifelong fan of the Cleveland Indians, Bob's enthusiasm for baseball was infectious, and he shared many a game with family and friends, creating lasting memories with every pitch and home run.
Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery and will be private for his close friends and family.
