Robert "Bob" Kalfas' Obituary
Robert “Bob” Alan Kalfas, born on June 14, 1950, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late John and Sophie (née Zylko) Kalfas, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Andrea (née Sabol); their three daughters; Cortney Kalfas (Jeff Lukcso), Beth Gibson (Chris), and Samantha Baker (J.T.); and his adored grandchildren, Robert and Layla Gibson, and Stephen and LeeAnn Baker. He was a beloved uncle, cousin, friend and a mentor to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Carole Stansbury (Don), his brother John Kalfas (Peggy), and his grandson, Michael Charles Gibson, who surely welcomed him with open arms.
A lifelong Clevelander and resident of Strongsville for over 40 years, Bob built a life rooted in family, community and hard work. He was President and owner of R.A. Kalfas Construction, a general contracting business he founded and led for over 35 years. Bob was proud of the company’s work and had deep respect for those who worked with him.
Bob believed in giving back to the community that meant so much to him. He was actively involved in the Strongsville Chamber of Commerce, where he served as a past President and was a current Trustee board member. His commitment to service and volunteerism extended to the Pella Advisory Board, coaching CYO football, and serving as a board member for many years on the Sts. Joseph and John Athletic Booster Club.
Bob enjoyed life to the fullest by embracing every season with energy and joy. Summer days were spent boating on Lake Erie or riding his Harley. In the fall tailgating and attending the OSU Buckeye football games were a must and during the winter months Bob and his wife were "snowbirds" and escaped to Florida.
Bob was a man of integrity, generosity, and deep devotion to those he loved. He leaves behind a legacy of leadership, kindness, and many cherished memories. He will be missed beyond measure.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bob’s memory to A Special Wish Northeast Ohio: https://www.aspecialwishneo.org/donate.
Visitation will be held at Jardine Funeral Home, 15822 Pearl Rd., Strongsville, OH 44136, on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM. A private family service and interment will follow.
