Robert "Bob" Charles Breitenbach's Obituary
Robert Charles “Bob” Breitenbach, age 88, of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away on June 26, 2026. He was born on November 20, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio, and lived a life marked by kindness, friendship, and a genuine appreciation for the people and experiences that filled his days.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Flo Ann Breitenbach, and by his parents, Carl and Katherine Breitenbach; his brother, Richard Breitenbach; and his sisters, Julie Carlton and Sally Breitenbach. He is survived by his daughters, Kathleen (Tom) Pulice and Karen (Brian) Atkinson; his grandchildren, Ryan Juda, Alexandra Noel, Sydney Atkinson, and Madeline Atkinson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He also leaves behind all of the friends he met along the way, whose lives were enriched by his warmth and easy conversation.
Bob earned an Associate of Arts degree and went on to build a successful career as a business owner, operating multiple Original Mattress Factory locations. He took great pride in his work and in the relationships he formed through business and community involvement. His strong work ethic, steady presence, and personable nature helped him earn the respect of those who knew him professionally and personally.
Outside of work, Bob embraced life with enthusiasm and style. He loved music, especially the timeless voice of Frank Sinatra, and he was a friend to so many because he was social, approachable, and able to talk with anyone. He had a deep appreciation for cars, especially Corvettes, and enjoyed the beauty and craftsmanship they represented. He was also a photographer, painter, and sketcher, expressing his creativity in many forms throughout his life.
Bob enjoyed the simple pleasures that made time with others memorable. He liked sharing a glass of wine with friends and going out to eat with family and friends, where conversation and laughter were always welcome. One of his favorite meals was a bean burrito from Taco Bell, a small detail that reflected his easygoing spirit and appreciation for life’s familiar comforts. He also adored football and faithfully cheered on the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. In addition, he valued exercise, healthy eating, walking, and dieting, and he made an effort to care for himself and stay active.
Those who knew Bob will remember him as a kind and friendly man who made others feel at ease. He had a natural ability to connect with people and a sincere interest in the lives of those around him. His presence was steady, his smile was welcoming, and his friendship was a gift to many. He lived with grace, enjoyed life fully, and left behind a legacy of love, conversation, creativity, and connection.
