Rita Jamison's Obituary
Rita H. Jamison (Mitchell), 98 passed away on Monday, January 15th in Strongsville, Ohio. She was the loving wife and dearest friend of the late Charles V. Jamison for 66 years. She was born on May 31, 1925 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the daughter of James and Catherine Mitchell. She graduated from Braddock Hospital Nursing School in 1947 and married Charles on October 23, 1948. They moved to Cleveland in 1951. Early in her nursing career, Rita was a Registered Nurse who served injured military at Crile Hospital in Parma and later retired as Head Nurse from Ford Motor Company in 1987.
Her legacy lives on through her children: Chuck (Lyn), John Michael (Diane), Cathy (Lloyd) Doering, Joseph Mitchell (Patricia), and Paula (Kenneth) Sauer. Her memory also remains vibrant through her grandchildren Steven (Nadine), Marc (Courtney), Brandy (Scott) Lachanski, Jacqueline (Matt) DuBroy, Julianne (Joe) Brindlinger, Jennifer (Chris) Pickett, Charlene Doering, Shelby and Troy Jamison. Rita was also blessed with 16 great grandchildren and 1 great, great granddaughter.
Rita found community as a cherished member of St. Colette Catholic Church. She was an avid reader and a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She will be deeply missed by her many friends at St. Colette Catholic Church, Vitalia Senior Residences at Strongsville, and the Strongsville Senior Center.
In her 98 years, Rita displayed beauty, grace, love and patience. She touched our hearts in so many ways. She had a life well lived and we know God and Heaven await her. Even though we can no longer hold her in our arms, we will hold her in our hearts forever.
Please join us in celebrating her life at Jardine Funeral Home, 15822 Pearl Rd., Strongsville, Ohio 44136 on Monday, January 22nd from 3 – 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Colette Catholic Church, 330 West 130th St., Brunswick, Ohio 44212 at 11 a.m., with interment following at Eastlawn Memory Gardens at 2869 Grafton Rd., Brunswick, Ohio 44212. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
