Richard R. Woollett's Obituary
A loyal, intelligent man entered into heaven on July 21.
Richard R Woollett, long time Strongsville resident, born on October 18, 1923 in Los Angeles, CA died peacefully with his loving wife and daughters by his side.
Richard was the devoted husband to Ann (Ristoff) for 64 years and an amazing father to Laura Woollett of Mason, OH, Susan Dexter (Turo) of Alexandria, VA and Linda Sill (Bruce) of Glastonbury, CT. He was respected and revered by his grandchildren – Larry Capuder (Kelly) of Middleburg Heights, Brian Capuder of NYC and Elizabeth, Emily and Ethan Sill of Glastonbury, CT. He is predeceased by his sister, Joan Hebert (Don) with whom he and Ann loved travelling the west coast. He especially enjoyed visiting any place affiliated with General George Custer.
All who knew Richard recognized how he worked diligently for the benefit of others – whether it be for his family, his country as a WWII veteran, NASA Lewis (now Glenn) Research Center as an aeronautical engineer for 42 years, the Strongsville School Board as an elected member for 20 years, the Polaris Board, The Drug Action Committee or the IFPTE, the engineers union where he taught himself how to arbitrate on the behalf of others.
For a man whose words were few (or at least a lot fewer than Ann’s), Richard’s words were always thoughtful and filled with wisdom and good advice. And they will be missed.
The family will welcome those wishing to pay their respects at Jardine Funeral Home, 15822 Pearl Road, Strongsville, OH from 6-8pm on Friday, July 27th and at a memorial service at Berea United Methodist Church, 170 Seminary Street at 11am on Saturday, July 28th. All are welcomed to a light lunch at the church immediately following the service. The burial will take place at a later time privately in the family plot at the Strongsville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Kidney Foundation in Richard’s memory.
