Richard Schaef's Obituary
Richard "Rick" Schaef, aged 79, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, in Strongsville, Ohio, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on February 14, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, Rick was a man of integrity, warmth, and intelligence, whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew him.
Rick was the cherished husband of Linda Schaef, with whom he shared 58 years of unwavering love and companionship. He was a devoted father to his children, Jeff Schaef (Tracey), Michael Schaef, Jenny Percio (Justin), and Jennie Schaef, instilling in them the values of hard work, kindness, and the importance of family. As the son of the late William and Marion Schaef, Rick carried forward the legacy of his parents with grace and honor. He was a supportive brother to Robert Schaef (Jodi) and Joanne Shappard.
Rick's role as a grandfather was one of his greatest joys. He was the proud grandfather of Cody Schaef (Kayla), Kyler, Kayla, Nikki, Eric, and Von, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Ronan, Hunter, and Riley, who will grow up hearing tales of their great-grandfather's love and wisdom.
Rick's academic achievements were marked by his graduation from Cleveland State University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. His education laid the foundation for a life of continuous learning and curiosity.
Rick's dedication to his country was evident in his 30 years of service in the Navy, where he achieved the esteemed rank of Master Chief, E9, QMCM. His commitment to excellence and leadership was recognized by all who served with him.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Rick was a man of many interests. He had a passion for golfing and bowling, pursuits that brought him immense joy and relaxation. His presence on the golf course and at the bowling alley will be fondly remembered by his family and friends.
Throughout his life, Rick was known for his generosity of spirit, his unwavering sense of duty, and his ability to inspire others. His laughter was infectious, his advice was sought after, and his love was unconditional. Rick's life was a testament to the power of dedication—to his country, his career, and above all, his family.
ALL SERVICES FRIDAY, APRIL 11, 2025. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 4PM-6PM with a Memorial Service to begin at 6PM at JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, 15822 PEARL RD, STRONGSVILLE.
