Raymond A. Foos' Obituary
Raymond A. Foos, 92, passed away on July 27, 2021. Raymond was born on September 30, 1928 to Clarence and Clara Foos in Bowling Green, Ohio. He was the 7th child of 12 and was a beloved brother to his 11 siblings. He was a graduate of Xavier University and earned a PhD in Chemistry from Iowa State University. As a result of this
education, he was able to work on the Manhattan project and was also granted 21 patents in chemical refinement.
Raymond is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Rita Foos, and his 11 children: Catherine Tasi (William), Tom Foos (Pat), Elisa Bender, David Foos (Connie), Karen Testa (Larry), Stephanie Bedgio (Paul), Michele Sherman (Mike), Renee Crowley (Patrick), Brian Foos (Carole), Andrea Pecuch, and Kevin Foos (Heather). He is also survived by his 44 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his granddaughter Jessica Foos.
Ray was a successful businessman. His career took him to lead Brush Wellman as CEO and Chairman of the Board. However, his family will remember him most for the love he shared with all of them. His greatest joy was the time he spent celebrating many of life’s greatest moments surrounded by his family. There is nothing he liked better than sitting with his children or grandchildren discussing their accomplishments, dreams, or the latest in Cleveland sports. And of course, he could always be found catching up on recent financial and political news with a Manhattan in hand.
Ray was also a devout Catholic and philanthropist. He gave generously to many causes throughout his life and was passionate about helping those in need. In order to accomplish this, he, along with his wife, Rita, established the Raymond and Rita Foos Family Charitable Foundation to serve disadvantaged youth.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unrelenting faith in God for his family to follow.
His visitation will be held on Friday, July 30 from 4-8 pm at Jardine Funeral Home, 15822 Pearl Road, Strongsville.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, July 31 at 9:30 am, with visitation to begin at 8:45 am at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 929 Pearl Road, Brunswick. Burial to follow at
Resurrection Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to the Raymond and Rita Foos Family Charitable Foundation, at 2523 Erie Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45208.
