Raymond Harry Buschman's Obituary
Raymond Harry Buschman, Age 93, passed away on April 7, 2023. Born October 8, 1929 in Brunswick, Ohio to the late Arthur G. and Julia B. Buschman (nee Barabas) and brother to the late Betty (Gordon) Yager. Ray was the cherished husband of Blanche (Ferencz) Buschman for 67 years; Beloved father of Karl (Sheryl) Buschman, Lynn (David) Buschman-Johnston and Laurie (deceased); Grandfather of Bradley (Chrissy) Buschman, Jason Newell and Jarrod Newell.
Ray lived most of his life in Strongsville, Ohio and graduated from Strongsville High School in 1947. In school, he participated in a variety of sports and was inducted into the Strongsville High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 1989. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 as an MP stationed at the 5th General Hospital in Stuttgart, Germany. In 1953 he joined the Strongsville, Ohio Police Department and served as a Patrolman, Sergeant and then Chief of Police retiring in 1982.
Ray was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He raised dahlias and was a member of the Dahlia Society of Ohio serving 2 years as President of the Society. He continued working part-time as a plumber and as a sales representative for Sears Hardware. He enjoyed watching M.A.S.H., John Wayne movies and westerns. Ray was the most loving and selfless person to have blessed our lives. May he rest in peace.
