Peter J. Powers' Obituary
Peter J. Powers, a cherished soul and beacon of vitality, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025, in Cleveland, Ohio, at the age of 88. Born on October 30, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, Peter's journey through life was marked by unwavering love, dedication, and an infectious zest for life that left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
His commitment to his work was paralleled only by his devotion to his family. Peter was the beloved husband of 65 years to Patricia S. Powers (nee Abel), and together they built a legacy of love and family that will endure for generations.
Peter's role as a loving father was exemplified in his relationships with his children, Lisa Springer, Michael J. Powers, and Debbie Babin (Wes). He instilled in them the values of hard work, perseverance, and the importance of family. As a brother, he shared an unbreakable bond with his late siblings, Mary E. Powers and Bridgie Greene (the late Jim). His parents, the late John and Mary T. Powers, would have been proud of the man he became.
His joy for life extended to his grandchildren, Michael Springer (Bonnie), Jeffrey Babin (Kristen), and Kurtis Babin, who will forever cherish the memories of their grandfather's unwavering support and guidance. Peter's legacy continued to grow with the birth of his great-grandchildren, Pennelope and Braylen Springer, who brought him immense joy and pride.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Peter dedicated many years of service to his country before embarking on a fulfilling career as a millwright at Ford Motor Company.
Peter's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. His love for tennis, biking, and skating was matched by his commitment to health and fitness. He was a man who could never sit still, always seeking the next adventure or challenge. His family was his utmost priority, and he treasured the annual vacations they took together, especially the cruises that allowed them to explore the world as a unit.
Autumn was Peter's favorite season, and Halloween held a special place in his heart. He reveled in the crisp air, the changing leaves, and the joy of the holiday's festivities. His appreciation for nature was evident in his love for outdoor activities, where he found peace and fulfillment.
Peter J. Powers lived a life that was rich in experiences, love, and laughter. His absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to know him, yet his spirit will continue to inspire and guide his loved ones. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take solace in the memories he leaves behind and the knowledge that his legacy will live on through the lives he touched.
