Nancy K. Gainous (nee Cavanaugh), 82, passed away July 27, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Robert Gainous for 58 years. Cherished mother of Ron Gainous (Linda), Mike Gainous (Lynn), Kathy Gainous Haxton, Tim Gainous (Nicole), and Doug Gainous (Stacy). Sister of Dan Cavanaugh (Debbie) and Sue Perine. Daughter of the late Danial Joseph and Lois Schafer Cavanaugh. Loving grandmother to Mike Haxton (Jessica), Matthew Haxton, Jamie and Jared Windler, Emily, Evan, Olivia, Nick, Rachel, Brynlee and Sloane Gainous. Great-grandmother of Riley and Parker Haxton.
Born in Brookvillle, Pennsylvania to Danial Joseph and Lois Schafer Cavanaugh and raised in Parkersburg Wes Virginia with her older brother Dan and younger sister Sue. Nancy was a devout Catholic and close to her family. She attended DeSales High School and then completed her education at Ohio University in Columbus becoming a phlebotomist and meeting her husband, Robert. They married in 1961 in Columbus and moved a couple times with stops in Cincinnati, East Lansing, and Berea before settling in Strongsville where they raised 5 kids over 30yrs.
After retiring, Nancy and Bob moved to South Carolina where she spent countless hours volunteering, enjoyed playing golf with her husband and friends, loved to play bridge, and hosting and visiting family. Nancy loved ice cream, to travel, play cards, shop, decorate her house, nature and being around her beloved children and their families. She also adored her family dogs. Nancy was everyone’s biggest cheerleader, she will always be remembered for her faith, unconditional love, positivity, and kindness to all.
VISITATION THURSDAY AUGUST 12, 2021 5-8PM at JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, 15822 PEARL RD, STRONGSVILLE. Memorial Mass FRIDAY 10AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Strongsville.
