Milan John Kapp's Obituary
Milan John Kapp (nee Kapusta), 95, of West Bloomfield, Michigan and Naples, Florida (formerly of Northfield, Parma Heights, Seven Hills, Ohio) passed away November 6, 2018.
Born in Northfield, Ohio, 1923. Beloved husband of the late Janet Kapp (nee Kapusta, nee Sadlowski), loving and devoted father of Lorrie, Sandy, Bonnie Penta, Mila Kapusta, beloved grandfather of Garry (Jennifer) Penta; great grandfather of Olivia Marie Penta; brother of the late Daniel Kapusta; brother of the late Anna Doyle, sisters, Olga, Ellen and parents, late John and Anna Kapusta.
Milan loved baseball. At Northfield High School, he lettered in all sports and served as Captain for the High School Football and Baseball Teams. After school, he was a “Practice Catcher” for the Cleveland Indians. As a Professional Baseball player, he was a “catcher” in the Minors with the Cleveland Indians, Toledo Mud Hens and Philadelphia Phillies. He played with Mike Garcia, Bob Feller and caught Ted Williams. Named Most Popular Baseball Player, 1942. Inducted into the Nordonia Sports Hall of Fame, Macedonia, Ohio, 1978.
Proud to be a Naval Aviator; Lt.; who flew the well-known “Avenger Torpedo Bomber”. After active service, served in the Naval Reserves.
Graduated from Wayne State University with a Master’s Degree in Education; awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Science and Engineering Technology from Sienna Heights College; received an Associate Degree from the Cleveland Engineering Institute and Diploma from the Industrial Time Study Institute. Milan worked as an Industrial Engineer/Time Study Expert at General Motors; Owners of Kapp Home Building Co.; worked as an Educator at the Hudson’s Boy’s Farm, Hudson, Ohio and Pontiac Public Schools, Pontiac, Michigan.
Servant of and Believer in Jesus Christ Our Lord who now joins Him in eternity. Visitation at the JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, 15822 PEARL RD, STRONGSVILLE, OH SUNDAY 3-6PM. Funeral Service MONDAY 8:30AM at Jardine’s. Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH MONDAY at 10:30AM.
