Michael W. Boland's Obituary
Michael W. Boland, age 85 of Avon Lake, Ohio passed away on Monday, April 4, 2011 at Altenheim Nursing Facility in Strongsville, Ohio. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 17, 1925. Michael, a proud son of St. Ignatius High School, was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater from 1943 to 1945. He was honorably discharged in 1945 from the Naval Air Corps. After the war, Mike returned to Cleveland where he graduated from John Carroll University, and then built a distinguished 30+ year career in banking as a valued employee with the Cleveland Trust Company, Ameritrust, and Key Bank. Two of Mike's greatest passions were art and photography. He was an accomplished artist and an active member of the Cleveland art community as a member of the Lakewood Art League and Baycrafters. But his greatest passion was his family, who will cherish his memory. He was married for over 38 years to the late Adelaine M. Boland, whom he dearly loved. He is survived by his daughter Patricia A. Boland, and son Timothy M. Boland, daughter-in-law Jenny A. Boland, grandson Connor T. Boland, and granddaughter Mackenzie A. Boland. He was the son of the late William F. and Susan G. Boland. Mike had many friends who will miss him greatly, particularly his good humor. He was also a great fan of the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
