Michael Allen Urban's Obituary
Michael Allen Urban, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, in Medina, Ohio, at the age of 81. Born on February 16, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, Michael was a man whose life was defined by his unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his community.
Michael's journey began as the cherished son of the late Mike V. Urban and Helen Urban. His early years in Cleveland laid the foundation for a life full of love, service, and adventure. Michael's legacy continued to grow as he became the beloved husband of 57 years to Kathleen M. Urban (nee Condon), and the loving father of Michael P. Urban, who, along with his wife Kara L. Urban, gave him the joy of being a grandfather to Michael V. Urban (Taylor S. Urban) and a great-grandfather to Kaya M. Urban. Although he was preceded in death by his brother Roger Urban, Michael's role as a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews ensured that his generous spirit would be felt across generations.
A proud Veteran of the U.S. Army, Michael served his country with honor as a Motor Pool Sergeant in Korea. His commitment to excellence and service continued throughout his civilian life, where he dedicated 35 years as an inside sales specialist at Republic/LTV Steel, retiring in 2000. His colleagues remember him not only for his professional expertise but also for his camaraderie and integrity.
Michael's zest for life was evident in his personal interests and community involvement. He and his wife, Kathy, shared a passion for exploration, often setting sail on Viking cruises to discover the wonders of the world together. Back at home, Michael was a pillar of his community, known for his generous personality and readiness to lend a helping hand. His home, affectionately dubbed the "Urban Market," was a hub of warmth and hospitality, where neighbors and friends were always welcome.
An independent man by nature, Michael was known for his can-do attitude. There was no task too daunting for him to undertake, and he approached every challenge with determination and a smile. His ability to fix, build, or solve problems became legendary within his circle, and his absence will leave a void that cannot be filled.
Michael's impact on the world was as profound as it was heartfelt. His unwavering support, guidance, and love shaped the lives of those around him, creating a legacy of kindness and strength that will endure. As we say goodbye to Michael Allen Urban, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of moments that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He will be missed tremendously by his family and friends, who take comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on through the memories they hold dear and the community he helped build.
