Matthew Justin Emigh's Obituary
Age 47; March 7, 1975 – February 12, 2023. Preceded in death by his brother Michael. Loving son of James M. (Barbara) and Linda M. DaMert (Gary); Caring husband of Michelle; Dearest father of Samantha R. and Jacob M.; Beloved stepbrother of Jason and Teresa Walsh (Sean), Jeffrey DaMert and Launa Dunmire; Cherished Uncle of Alexia Marie and Maximus James Emigh.
Beloved by all who knew him. Who could resist that devilish twinkle in those sky-blue eyes?
Matt graduated from Olmsted Falls High School where he excelled as a wrestler and established lifelong friendships. He later attended Ohio University, Toledo University, and majored in Field Engineering at York Technical College. Matt was talented in many areas but ultimately chose to use his skills in the field of carpentry. After gaining experience in building homes, he went on to co-own Mitred Edge, and finally finished his life-long love of building and creating by working in the heavy construction industry.
Matt had several interests over his life. Outside of his family, however, there was only one that could tempt him from any other. He loved his music, bands, and enjoyed touring the country to see his favorite groups. Mention The Grateful Dead was starting a new tour and you would soon find him frantically searching for tickets for the best location and time.
If you asked Matt to describe his most memorable achievement or his highest priority, he would certainly reply, “Samantha and Jacob.” They were the loves of his life. Their names and accomplishments, both small and outstanding, filled his conversations and brought an endless smile to his face.
Matt loved being outdoors. He was an avid camper and hiker. He had walked over a third of the Appalachian Trail and looked forward to traversing the entire trail one day. He had a special spot in his heart for all animals but was an undeniable dog lover. Matt and his dogs were often inseparable at times in his life.
Matt passed away due to heart related issues which emerged earlier in his life.
