Mary B. Schraner, age 92, peacefully passed away surrounded by the love of her family. Born Mary B. Kearney, she was the daughter of the late James T. Kearney and Mary McCullough. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Robert A. Schraner, whom she married on September 29, 1956. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Joan Daley, Anne Patte, and brothers, James, and Patrick. She is survived by her sister Bonnie Broz (Joe). Mary is lovingly survived by her children, Bunty Kreidler (Bruce), Jamie Schraner (Lorie), Robert J. Schraner (Elaine), Barry Schraner (Julie), and Betsy Kall (Tom). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Ruth Esther Fleming (Ian), Jake (Sophie), Tyler, Mikie, Robbie, Tommy V., and Mary-Margaret (Mira), along with many other cherished family members including Joey, David Broz and friends.
Mary's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She loved the Lord and faithfully served her church in her earlier years by teaching Sunday School, participating in Monday night meals (as she was an excellent cook! She really knew how to stretch a meal to feed the masses!) She lived her faith through acts of kindness, always willing to help anyone in need whether be lending an ear to someone in need or pointing them to the scriptures for Godly advice. Her family often said she would give a stranger in the grocery store the money she had from her own pocket if they needed it.
She had a gift for sewing and spent countless hours making beautiful dolls, sock quilts and fashionable blouses, she often referred to her design as “Gag Fashions!”. She would even use fabric as wrapping paper at Christmas time. She loved to dance, sing, and brought joy to those around her with her creativity and warm spirit. Mary also had a contagious sense of humor. Whether she meant to be funny or not, she had a way of making everyone around her laugh, and some of her most cherished memories with family were filled with smiles and laughter. She was a master in her delivery of a line when storytelling. Mary was known for her stylish appearance and was rarely seen without one of her signature hats or visors. She also delighted in creating costumes for parties for herself and children, most notably when her and Bob were Bert and Ernie.
Mary will be remembered for her generous heart, unwavering faith, compassionate spirit, joyful sense of humor, and deep love for her family. Her kindness touched countless lives, and her legacy of love and selflessness will continue through all who knew her.
Mary's family will greet friends on Wed July 8th from 3pm-6pm, funeral service at 6pm. All services will be held at Jardine Funeral Home 15822 Pearl Rd, Strongsville, OH 44136. Burial will be held the following day, Thurs July 9th at 1:15pm at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery 10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, OH 44273.
