We are blessed to count Mark, an the DeFauw family, as a neighbors and friends. We have so many wonderful memories of Strongsvile Summer Swim League, and lazy days at the pool. Mark was always upbeat, positive, friendly, and helpful - everything you would want in a good neighbor. I know he was a great father and husband, and there will be a great void without him. Our love and prayers are with all of you now, and moving forward. Please accept our sincerest condolences about the loss of Mark. I first met him in the late 70's when he played with his brother Bob and myself on an Eaton softball team one weekend when we were playing in a tournament. When my family lived in Westlake, OH., I would occasionally invite him to ride with me / sit with me at a Michigan football game. Later, when my family moved to Ann Arbor, he would sometimes visit Ann Arbor and take in a game - with Brad of course. I have shared a lot of laughs with Mark & Brad at these occasions and most recently at Megan's wedding, and I will really miss Mark.##imported-begin##Jim & Melissa Strahley##imported-end##

Aunt Sue, Brad, and Beth,

Words cannot express to you how deeply saddened I am by Uncle Mark passing away. I wish that my words could take the hurt and pain that you are feeling away. I do not understand it, but in the past couple of days I have looked at pictures of your family, of our whole DeFauw family, and was able to smile and feel joy remembering the memories we have. Whether it was a family vacation, an awful Christmas dinner at Aunt whats her names house that made us all want to go to McDonalds the minute we left, a football game, or a family wedding, Uncle Mark was always running around with a smile on his face or tearing up the dance floor with his really sweet DeFauw dance moves. How blessed I feel to have had him, and all of you, as a part of my life. I am here for you guys whatever you need just as you have all been a huge support to me. Dear DeFauw Family, Mark and I went from Kindergarden to H.S. Graduation together! We "ran" together (and not only on the track !). We had a geat time and Mark was a big part of it. Mark was one of the best atheletes I ever saw and the fastest runner. When we were Sophmores in H.S, Mark had broken his ankle and had a hugh plaster cast on his leg. This thing must of weighted 60Lbs. Well, one night we were running from the Royal Oak Cops for doing something silly. I took off...and here comes Mark...He flew by me...Like I was stand'in still...I'll never forget seeing him in his Letter Jacket, cast on...flying down that alley. That's just one of many great memories, I will always smile at. He was quite a guy and a great friend to all.
To all the Family and Friends...Thanks for sharing Mark with us.
My(Our)lives have been Blessed for knowing him. May his spirit live in us all for eternity.
My heart and my Prayers go out to You all.

To Mark's family and friends, you have my condolences on your loss.

I knew Mark all through grade school and high school.

Mark and the rest of us "jocks" shot a lot of hoops together, as well as going to class, crusing Woodward Ave and chasing the chicks!

I remember Mark for his athletic prowess and his quiet ways. Although I have not seen him in years I can still picture his sly smile and hear his soft laugh.

Even though I lost contact with Mark and most of my childhood friends they created a wonderful foundation on which to build my life and I will never forget them.##imported-begin##Larry Perreault##imported-end##

Mark was one of the nicest, kindest boys in our class ... cool, smart, funny and unfailingly polite. After seeing his death notice last night in the Detroit Free Press, I saw him in my dreams. He was dressed in a suit and seemed to be on his way somewhere. We talked for a minute and then he smiled and said he was meeting someone. I knew he meant that he was on his way to meet the Lord. Dear DeFauw Family,
I am so sorry for your loss please accept my sincere condolences at this time. Something that I have found to be a great source of comfort are the thoughts expressed in the Bible at John 5:28,29 where we see that there is going to be a resurrection of those who have died. Also at Revelation 21:4 we see that God is going to eliminate all of the causes for why we deal with sorrow,pain and even death itself.
