Marilyn Kay Szucs' Obituary
Marilyn Szucs, a cherished wife, mother, grandma, and sister, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024, in Strongsville, Ohio, at the age of 79. Born on April 28, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio, a beacon of love and stability for all who knew her.
Marilyn graduated from Parma High School in 1963, carrying with her the values of diligence and kindness that would define her life. She embraced the role of homemaker with grace and joy, dedicating her life to caring for her beloved husband of 44 years, Stephen Szucs, whom she married on July 3, 1980, and raising their two daughters, Kristin (Raymond) Zehnder and Jenny Hochevar, with unwavering love and devotion.
Her sister, Janet Bibro, shared in the many cherished family memories, and Marilyn's legacy continues through her adored grandchildren, Nicholas and Kayla Zehnder; Kelli (Scott) Kizer; and Emily and Eddie Hochevar. Each grandchild was a source of immense pride and joy for Marilyn, who spent countless hours, during sleepovers, teaching them her favorite board games, card games, and making them laugh with her silly jokes.
Marilyn's interests were a reflection of her love for connection and family. She was a master of crossword puzzles and board games, and Pinochle. Her melodic voice graced the choir at St. John Lutheran Church in Strongsville, where she and her family were devoted members for over two decades.
A woman of profound faith, Marilyn found strength and solace in her beliefs, which she expressed through her involvement in church activities and her everyday kindness. In the 1970s, she enjoyed bowling with her church community, an activity that would lead her to the love of her life, Stevie. Together, they shared a passion for the simple pleasures of life, including scenic rides to the park and watching the water's tranquility.
Marilyn's love story with Stevie was one of mutual respect, deep affection, and shared adventures. They were partners in every sense of the word, their commitment to each other unwavering through the seasons of life. Marilyn's role as a wife was one she cherished deeply, and her relationship with Stevie was a testament to the enduring power of love.
Her strength and resilience were as much a part of her as her gentle smile and warm embrace. Marilyn's ability to find joy in the everyday moments, to create a home filled with laughter and love, and to be a pillar of support for her family will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
VISITATION will be held on THURSDAY, June 20th from 4pm – 6pm at JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, on WEDNESDAY, June 26th at 12:15pm.
