Equal parts vivacious and vexatious, mom was loved by so many for her spirited personality. The glint in her eyes always shimmering with mischief and mirth. She was generous and kind with just a streak of stubbornness and resilience. As we approach Christmas, I will remember all the things she did to make this time of year special for me, John, and Dad. She was the one who did all the heavy decorating, while we got to sip hot cocoa and place a few ornaments on the tree. She was the one who shopped for and wrapped 99.9% of the presents. I still remember her going down into the basement, wrapping paper, scissors, and tape in hand, warning us not to peek. She was the one who baked the cookies and made the dinners, all while we enjoyed the tasting and the eating. She did so much for our family. She will be missed this Christmas and everyday.
