Lola Mary Jones' Obituary
Lola Mary Jones, a beacon of love and warmth, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024, at the age of 90 in Strongsville, Ohio. Born on August 1, 1933, in Oakland, Maryland, Lola was the cherished daughter of William and Ruth Upperman. She spent her life nurturing those around her with the same tenderness and care that she had been brought into the world with.
Lola's heart found its match when she married John R. Jones, and together they embarked on a journey of love and companionship that lasted for six remarkable decades until John's passing. Their union was blessed with three children: Linda K. Leon, Jacqueline Jones, who preceded her in death, and Brian (Rhonda) Jones, who also preceded her in death. Lola's legacy continued to flourish through her grandchildren, Matthew Burdett (Lisa), Timothy Burdett (Beverly), and Keisha Burdett Koopman (Matt), and her great-grandchildren, Isaiah, RJ, and Arianna Allen, and Reagan Burdett. The family tree grew even more with the arrival of her great-great-grandchild, Za'harya Weems.
Lola's life was further enriched by her siblings, Wilbur Upperman, Mona Hebb, and Faye King, who shared in the tapestry of memories that spanned her nine decades of life.
As a homemaker and pastor's wife, Lola dedicated her life to the service of her family and her community. Her hands were rarely still, as she found joy in sewing and cooking, not only for her loved ones but also for the members of her church. She also found solace in playing the piano in her home, as well as at church. Lola's home was an extension of her heart, where all were welcome, and where comfort and care were generously given.
Services will be private for the family.
