Lee A. Disterhof's Obituary
He was born on July 17, 1951, to Walter and Virginia (nee Protz) Disterhof in Cleveland, Ohio.
Lee attended Garfield Heights High School (class of 1969). Following high school, he attended the University of Akron and Cleveland State University, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in accounting. While at Cleveland State, he played football on their one and only Varsity team, they had for one year, as a tight end. Lee worked for Arthur Anderson and Sohio/BP for many years before he found his family at MACK Concrete. He retired from MACK in 2019 after working with them, as their CFO, for 21 years.
Lee was a very generous, kind, and loving man, always offering a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a hard worker and loved completing home renovation projects, learning new things, and challenging himself. In his younger years he coached baseball and softball for his children, as well as teaching them to ski.
Lee loved sports including The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians. He often sat outside listening to baseball games like he did with his own father when he was young. Lee also enjoyed traveling, taking walks around the neighborhood with his beloved dog Maggie, who passed away earlier this year.
Above all, his family and friends will miss his great sense of humor, the stories he would tell, and how he was the kindest and most loving husband, father, and grandfather. His grandchildren were the joy of his life. He will always be their “favorite superhero.”
Lee is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Barbara Disterhof; mother Virginia Disterhof; children Stacey Disterhof, Nicole (Mick) Peterman, and Erik (Hannah Wenck) Disterhof; grandchildren Maxwell and Nora Peterman; siblings Craig Disterhof, Kim (Dante) Frezza, Janice (William) Schaffeld; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
