Kerry Becker's Obituary
Kerry Becker, 73, passed away suddenly on July 21, 2024. Beloved husband and best friend to Susan Becker (née Baizel). Loving father of Patrick Becker and Laura (Kevin) Maher. Cherished Papa of Callum and Kinsley Maher and fur babies Barkley, Maizey, and Khaki. Son of the late Victor and Esther Becker (née Oehlberg). Dear brother of Randy (Lennie) Becker and Diane (Randy) Lassila. Son-in-law of the late William and Ruth Baizel. Brother-in-law of Lynn Zolnai, Donna Lytle, Carole Bucco, and William (Kellie) Baizel.
Kerry was born on December 18, 1950 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He graduated from Sheboygan North High School in 1969 and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He started his career in Chicago before moving to Cleveland. Shortly after his move, he met his future wife and his life changed forever. Kerry and Sue married on September 1, 1979 and began their 44 years together. They welcomed two amazing children, Patrick (born in 1986) and Laura (born in 1990), who they raised in Strongsville. He retired in 2014 after a successful career across several engineering roles, including 25 years as a devoted employee of Alcoa. His coworkers viewed him as a valued mentor, leader and, most importantly, a friend.
He was a man known for his honesty, integrity, and breadth of knowledge. Kerry enjoyed the simple things in life: Nature walks in the park; Traveling with his wife and kids; Do-it-yourself projects, both big and small. But more than anything, he loved his family and did everything in his power to provide the best life for them. Kerry was truly a one-of-a-kind husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. His warmth, thoughtfulness, and willingness to help knew no bounds, and all who knew and loved Kerry will remember his generosity of spirit and immense kindness. Words cannot do him justice.
