My Father was my number one hero. Although being a Cops kid has unique challenges and I admit I was a pain to my father when I was young. As a very young man I became very close with him.
Dad inspired me in so many ways. I find it very difficult to define how much admiration I have for him. He was the most moral man I have ever known and was a true gentleman with the uncanny ability to be a forgiving tough guy a Man's Man but a romantic all at the same time.
Throught my four tours in the Army there were many times I was challenged with a tough decision and ever time I could think to myself " what would Dad do ".
After my first tour the time came and I volunteered to go back to Iraq. The one and only time my father asked me not to go. When I quoted JKF on ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country. My father had a slit smile and supported my decision as well as the next two tours.
I was very blessed that my Father was there to hold the Bible when I swore in as a Police Officer. I only hope I'm ever at least half the Cop he was.
I love you and miss you very much Pop
