Kathleen Mae Urban's Obituary
Kathleen Mae Urban passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, in Medina, Ohio, at the age of 78. She was born on January 30, 1947, in Buffalo, New York. Kathleen, known as Kathy to friends and family, was known for her unwavering generosity, honesty, and loyalty to her friends, family, and community.
Kathy was the beloved daughter of Anne and Carl Condon (both predeceased) and a caring sister to Ellie Mueller and Mary Anne Hensel (both predeceased). She was married to the love of her life Michael A. Urban (predeceased) for 57 years. She was a very proud mother to Michael P. Urban (Kara L. Urban), a devoted grandmother to Michael V. Urban (Taylor S. Urban), and a loving great-grandmother to her precious Kaya M. Urban. Kathy also played a huge role in the lives of her many nieces and nephews, all of whom knew the unmistakable “Aunt Kathy look” as she helped guide them through the many stages of life.
Kathy lived a very adventurous and blessed life alongside her husband, Mike. Together, they traveled the world, seeing as much as they could and sharing their wisdom with many. At home, Kathy was always the one people turned to for advice or a comforting shoulder during difficult times. She was never one to let her voice go unheard, no matter what the situation. Her honesty and integrity helped shape the strong men and women in her family today and for generations to come.
She began her professional career with the FBI. She later joined AT&T, where she started as an operator and advanced through the ranks to become a service representative and ultimately a sales manager. After retiring from AT&T, her expertise was sought by Progressive Insurance, where she managed the set-up of their call centers across the country and trained their employees on their new systems. Her career reflected her dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence.
Kathy found great joy in the kitchen, where nothing compared to one of her homemade “grandma meals.” Her table was always open to everyone, and there were always leftovers to share. When she wasn’t cooking, Kathy treasured time spent with her family, specially making memories with her grandchildren as they traveled to new places together. She cherished every moment she spent with her great-granddaughter, Kaya, proudly boasting about her to anyone who would listen. Those moments brought her immense joy and were among her greatest treasures.
To know Kathy was truly a blessing. Her loving, caring, and delightfully sassy personality brought smiles and laughter to all who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith, and her memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
