Joyce M. Stumpf's Obituary
Joyce M. Stumpf (nee Sivik) passed away peacefully on March 4th, 2026 in Strongsville, Ohio at the age of 84. Born on March 23, 1941 in Beaverdale, Pennsylvania, Joyce was the daughter of Michael and Agnes Sivik and sister to the late Pat Berzansky (John). Up to her final days, she maintained her strength, kindness, and compassion for others.
Joyce met and married her husband Ronald in Pittsburgh, and they were married for over 40 years. Together they raised four children: Keith Stumpf (Suzan), Beth Vavzincak (David), Melissa Miller (Mark), and Lori Samoly (Russ). One of the greatest joys of her life was being a grandmother to Grace, Rachel, Jesse, Samuel, Hannah, Kaylie, Nicole, Mia, and Peyton. She joyfully helped to watch and raise many of them. She was a constant presence in the lives of her grandchildren, making sure to be at every game, play, and concert she could attend. She was blessed with eleven great grandchildren in Luca, Eli, Arya, Emma, Zoey, Molly, Paxton, Naomi, Teddy, Nova, and Mars.
Professionally, Joyce was a dedicated and exceptional registered nurse. She loved her job at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh where she used her gifts of loving and caring for people. There she met her lifelong friend Carol Saccamano. Joyce loved to tell stories of all the different people she got to meet and care for at Mercy Hospital, including Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney. She was the first call for family members when anyone was sick or hurt.
Joyce began every week in the same seat at St. John Neumann church for decades. After mass she and Ron would breakfast at Goldie’s Deli where her hash browns were always well done. Throughout her life she enjoyed playing cards with friends, reading, and watching QVC to find gifts for her family. Joyce was a social butterfly; she could make friends wherever she went.
Joyce spent her life investing in things that matter most: family, friendships, faith, and helping others. Her memory will be kept alive by those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of loving and caring for others continues to live on through her children and grandchildren.
