Josie Ann Sugalski's Obituary
Josie Ann Sugalski (nee Smith), passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, in Cleveland, Ohio, at the age of 73. Born on August 13, 1952, in the small town of Buckhannon, West Virginia, Josie's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and joy that touched everyone she knew.
Josie's journey began as the daughter of the late Leslie and Lucy Smith, and she grew up surrounded by the love of her siblings, the late Yvonne Andrews, Ruby Gillispie, Aleta Uhler, Nelson Smith, Jan Taylor, and Tom Smith. Her early years in Czar were filled with the simple pleasures of rural life, which instilled in her a lifelong love for nature and the outdoors.
In her youth, Josie's vibrant spirit and kind heart drew the attention of William "Bill" Sugalski, and the two were inseparable from then on. Their love story spanned 46 beautiful years, during which they built a family and a home filled with laughter and warmth. Josie was a beloved wife to Bill, and together they welcomed their son, Christopher Sugalski, who married Stephanie, adding more love to their growing family.
Josie's role as a mother was one she cherished deeply, and she extended that love to her grandchildren, Avery William, Olivia Amelie, Liam Michael, Olivia Faye, and Adaline Josie. She was a cherished grandmother, whose stories and hugs were a source of endless comfort and joy. Her love for her family was fierce and unwavering, and she was a constant presence in their lives, guiding them with wisdom and supporting them with an open heart.
Beyond her family, Josie had a passion for life's simple pleasures. She was an avid fisherwoman, often found spending time by the lake at their cottage home where she also enjoyed boating. Her garden was a testament to her patience and care, blooming with vibrant colors that mirrored her own lively personality. Josie was also a formidable opponent on the racquetball court, where she played with a competitive yet gracious spirit. Josie's adventurous spirit was matched by her beloved husband, Bill, with whom she shared many of life's greatest journeys. Together, they explored the world, but some of their most cherished moments were spent closer to home, riding their motorcycle on the open road.
Christmas was a special time for Josie, as she delighted in decorating her home and creating a festive atmosphere for her loved ones. Her joy during the holiday season was infectious, and she made sure that each year was more memorable than the last.
Josie's legacy is one of love, kindness, and the joy she found in the everyday. She was a dear aunt to many nephews and nieces, who will remember her for her generous spirit and the wisdom she imparted. Her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
As we bid farewell to Josie Ann Sugalski, we celebrate a life well-lived, a heart well-loved, and a soul that has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on this world. Her spirit will continue to inspire us, and her memory will be cherished forever.
