Joseph Bruno's Obituary
Joseph Bruno, a cherished husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2024, in Strongsville, Ohio. Born on February 19, 1945, to Joseph and Gemma Bruno. Joseph's life was defined by his unwavering dedication to his family, his courageous service to his country, and his love for the simple pleasures in life.
Joseph's journey began as the beloved son of Joseph and Gemma Bruno. He grew up surrounded by a large and loving family, including his siblings Yolanda Kalinowski, Anita Barnowski, Deanne Romaine, Mary Campagna, Susan Adoryan, Michael Bruno, and Charles Bruno. His early years were filled with a full house of laughter and camaraderie.
A man of honor and courage, Joseph answered the call of duty, at the age of 17, and served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. His service was a testament to his deep-seated love for his country and the values he held dear. After his military service, Joseph returned to his hometown, where he was known for his enduring commitment to his community, particularly as an active member of the Strongsville VFW Post #3345.
Joseph found his greatest joy in his marriage to his beloved wife, of 41 years, Rosalie. Their loving relationship was a beautiful testament to love, commitment, and partnership. Together they raised five children Laura Bruno, Joseph Bruno Jr., Christopher (Michelle) Piazza, Laura (Russell) Volk, and Michael Piazza (deceased).
Joseph's legacy will live on through his cherished grandchildren, Dillon Volk, Jesse Volk, Ariana Piazza, and Brandon Piazza, and his four great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride. Joseph's presence as a grandfather was a source of endless love, stories, and wisdom that his grandchildren will treasure forever.
An avid angler, Joseph found solace and delight in the calm waters of Lake Erie. His love for fishing was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his appreciation for nature's wonders and the tranquility he found there. Those who were lucky enough to join him on these fishing excursions experienced the joy of his company and the peace he cherished.
Joseph's life was one of connection and warmth. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosalie; his siblings Anita, Deanne, Mary, Susan, Michael, and Charles; and a host of relatives and friends who were blessed to know him. He now joins his parents, Joseph and Gemma Bruno, his sister Yolanda, and his brothers-in-law, John and Dave, and sister-in-law Barbara, in eternal rest.
VISITATION will be held on THURSDAY, April 18th from 3pm – 7pm at JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, 15822 Pearl Road, Strongsville. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held on FRIDAY, April 19th, at 11:30am, at ST. JOHN NEUMANN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 16271 Pearl Road, Strongsville. Interment will take place on MONDAY, April 22nd at 1:15pm at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, Ohio.
