John David Thompson's Obituary
John David Thompson passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026 in Strongsville, Ohio, at the age of 78. Born on November 19, 1947, in Monongahela, Pennsylvania, David was a man of integrity, warmth, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones.
David's early life in Monongahela laid the foundation for his strong family values and work ethic. He was the son of the late John and Sarah Thompson and grew up alongside his sisters, Wynne Antonio and Mary Jane Ahwesh (Michael).
A proud U.S. Air Force veteran, David served his country with honor and distinction. His time in the service instilled in him a sense of discipline and commitment that he carried into all aspects of his life.
David's greatest pride and joy were his four sons: Marty Thompson, John Thompson (Erin), Daniel Thompson (Maria), and Nate Thompson (Jessica). He was a loving father who devoted most of his time to raising his boys, ensuring they had everything they needed to succeed. He coached their youth sports teams, not only teaching them the rules of the game, but also imparting valuable life lessons of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Beyond his role as a father, David was a cherished grandfather to Aidan, Hannah, Hailey, Russell, Cole, Ethan, Wyatt, Maisie, Charlotte, and Hallie.
David's love for the beach and his cherished vacations in the Outer Banks, North Carolina, were a testament to his appreciation for life's simple pleasures. The sound of the waves, the warmth of the sun, and the company of his family were the perfect recipe for happiness in David's book.
