John F. Lendzian's Obituary
John Lendzian, a man of remarkable character, talent, and devotion, passed away at 99 after a life defined by service, passion, and connection. He was truly one of a kind—deeply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him and remembered for his warmth, humor, and ability to make friends wherever he went.
A proud veteran, John answered the call to serve his country not once, but twice—volunteering for both World War II and the Korean War. He served honorably in the United States Navy and later in the United States Army, exemplifying courage and dedication.
In his younger years, he pursued his love of baseball, playing Minor League baseball for the Reading Phillies. His discipline and drive carried into his academic and professional life as well, graduating from Western Reserve School of Law and on to a successful career in Advertising for Meldrum and Fewsmith.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, John had a lifelong passion for music. A gifted pianist, he shared his love of classical music by teaching private piano lessons for more than 20 years, inspiring countless students.
At the heart of his life was his family. He is survived by his children, Susan Reubens [Allen], Jack Lendzian [Annette], Leigh Lendzian and Erin Osterland [Christian]. He was a proud grandfather to Brad Lendzian [Stefanie], Kelly Carey [Chad], Max Osterland and Annika Osterland. He also delighted in his great grandchildren, Will and Sydney Lendzian and Makenna, Miles and Maelynn Carey. The younger generations brought him great joy, and he treasured the opportunity to watch his family grow and flourish over the years.
John leaves behind a legacy of service, passion, and kindness. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the many lives he touched.
