John V. Gaba's Obituary
John V. Gaba, 89, passed away June 11, 2025. Born March 23, 1936 at home in Cleveland, Ohio. Beloved husband and best friend of Joanna (Dylag) Gaba for 66 years; devoted father of Benjamin (Carol Claycomb), Cheryl (Rick) Voigt, and Kathleen (Benedek) Higl; loving grandfather of Andrew (Stephanie), Joseph, Megan (Jon) Belviso, Ricky (Emily) Voigt, Lauren (Andrew) Marburger, Olivia (Nicholas) Barr and Sam (Mariah) Higl; great-grandfather of Nathan, Charles, Carter, Jacob, Lucas, Quinn, Silas, Grayson, Everett, and two soon-to-be great-grandchildren.
John was a policeman with the Cleveland Police Department, and retired in 1988, after 32 years as a detective and patrolman. He also served in the U.S. Navy in the 1950's. John was an avid fisherman, hunter, boater and gardener, and liked to take his family camping over the years.
Visitation will be held at 10:00am until the time of mass at 11AM on June 20th at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 16271 Pearl Road, Strongsville Ohio 44146, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Private interment will be held at a later time at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Southwest Hospice, 18659 Drake Road, Strongsville Ohio 44136.
