My daughter, Stephanie saw the news about Jack on Facebook. I had known Jack for almost 50 years. When Stephanie called me about Jack's untimely passing this past Sunday morning, - I was shocked - it seems that only a week before I had received a heartfelt sympathy card from Jack, and shortly after my wife, Mary Ann's passing in January 2021, he had phoned me to express his sorrow. Without doubt, Jack was Mary Ann's most loyal and closest cousin - he visited often at our home in Lakewood, and since early 2019 he visited Mary Ann often at the various nursing facilities. When I was laid up at Cleveland Metro Hospital with a bleeding ulcer in February 2019, Jack is the one who answered my desperate call and went to our house, fed and walked our Petey (the crazy dog), and brought my cell phone charger to me at the hospital. Jack came to visit us in Florida, and I'll never forget that after our auto collision in February 2018, Jack stayed in Naples several days longer to help me with getting our personal possessions out of our wrecked minivan and for the purpose of daily visits with Mary Ann at Naples Community Hospital. With Mary Ann confined to hospital, it was great just to have Jack's calming presence. Jack was a very dedicated, loyal and thoughtful person; I recall that in 2006 he drove all the way from Ohio to Katy, Texas to help celebrate our Cousin Marlene's and Johnny Perry's 50th Wedding Anniversary. Then, when Johnny Perry died at end of January 2019, it was Jack who called me and together we drove to Youngstown for Johnny's wake. This past year, Jack came to visit Stephanie and me in Grafton a couple of times when it was impossible to visit Mary Ann at the skilled nursing facilities. Despite the many episodes of sadness Jack had experienced in his past life, he always maintained an upbeat optimism reflective of his deep Catholic Faith. Jack embodied simplicity and candor; he avoided complications such as the internet, computers and credit cards. We will all miss Jack.
Jack was one extra nice guy. He was hired as my electrical apprentice in the 70's at Republic Steel and learned his trade exceptionally well.
To Jacks family....Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss. I will have very fond memories of Jack!

I did not know Jack for very long, but I can confirm that he was indeed one of the kindest, nicest guys I have ever met. RIP, friend. You will be missed.
